A dead woman`s a strange thing
How does a dead body feel like? What to do with it? To bury, to burn it, to conserve it, to let it be? To forget, to remember it? What`s inevitable and what`s possible? What constitutes death? Would death be defined as opposed to life? What constitutes life? A living woman`s a strange thing.

Vera Sofia Mota (1982) is a Portuguese artist based in Berlin since 2011. She studied choreography, performance, philosophy and yoga in Portugal, Holland, Germany and India and has been working in these areas. She emphasizes the work with Portuguese choreographer João Fiadeiro and RE.AL in Lisbon during 2006-10, where she did her first creations, and the long-term collaboration with Dutch dramaturge Fransien van der Putt since 2010 in different projects and contexts. Her research project at the MA at ArtEZ in Holland (2014-16) was entitled `Multiplicity in Practice: Emergent Compositions` - a study of how `many things` can/do relate ecologically in art and life and how this plurality of relationships can be practiced (political-)ethically and artistically. At the invitation of LIMA Amsterdam and in collaboration with Fransien van der Putt, Vera has been researching the work of visual, performance and video pioneer artist, Nan Hoover (New York, 1931 - Berlin, 2008) since 2015.

Comment se sent un cadavre? Que faire avec lui? Pour l`enterrer, le brûler, le conserver, le laisser être? L’oublier, se souvenir? Qu`est-ce qui est inévitable et ce qui est possible? Qu`est-ce qui constitue la mort? La mort serait-elle définie par opposition à la vie? Qu`est-ce qui constitue la vie? Une femme vivant est une chose étrange.

Vera Sofia Mota (1982) est une artiste portugaise basée à Berlin depuis 2011. Elle a étudié la chorégraphie, la performance, la philosophie et le yoga au Portugal, en Hollande, en Allemagne et en Inde et a travaillé dans ces domaines. Elle met l`accent sur le travail avec le chorégraphe portugais João Fiadeiro et RE. AL à Lisbonne pendant 2006-10, où elle a fait ses premières créations, et la collaboration à long terme avec le néerlandais dramaturge Fransien van der Putt depuis 2010 dans différents projets et contextes. Son projet de recherche dans son Master à ArtEZ en Hollande (2014-16) était intitulé «multiplicité dans la pratique: les compositions émergentes»-une étude de la façon dont «beaucoup de choses» peuvent/font se rapportent écologiquement dans l`art et la vie et comment cette pluralité de relations peut être pratiquée (politique- ) éthiquement et artistiquement. A l`invitation de LIMA Amsterdam et en collaboration avec Fransien van der Putt, Vera a fait des recherches sur le travail de l`artiste pionnier de la vidéo, de la performance et de l`audiovisuel, Nan Hoover (New York, 1931-Berlin, 2008) depuis 2015.
